Dr. Ohmer, a native of Thibodaux, LA, graduated from Nicholls State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Chemistry. He then earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1979 from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. He then spent three years on active duty in the United States Army. After his release from active duty he practiced in Baton Rouge, LA, until 1989 when he returned to active duty in the United States Navy Dental Corps as a Lieutenant Commander. He completed a one-year fellowship in oral surgery in 1984 at Naval Dental Center Great Lakes, IL.
Dr. Ohmer is still on active duty as a Captain in the Navy Dental Corps and is happy to join with Dr. Trunk in forming Dental Doctors of Florida. He brings to the practice 36 years of dental practice weighted heavily in surgical care, including wisdom tooth removal, implant placement, bone grafting and periodontal care.
He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry, member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry and the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics. He is a continuous learner, having earned over 3200 hours of continuing education credit.
In his spare time, Dr. Ohmer enjoys spending time with his family outdoors, at the beach, hiking and camping.
